The Seattle Art Fair Returns
Summertime opens a whole world of possibilities for outdoor recreation, but in between days spent on the lake and exploring nature trails, sometimes it’s nice to break up all of that action with a little culture. One of Seattle’s most exciting summer events is just around the corner—the Seattle Art Fair, happening from July 21 to 24 at Lumen Field Event Center. Returning after a two-year break, the four-day event is set to be full of regional and international artwork, talks and book signings by artists, and expert panels on the contemporary art market.
Purchase a fair pass for access to all four days or a single day ticket to visit on either Friday, Saturday, or Sunday (Thursday is reserved for those who purchase a pass and select VIPs). Bring your appetite as there will be a variety of food vendors to choose from and cheers to the thriving Seattle art scene with a specialty cocktail or an Elysian Brewing beer.
Once you’ve satisfied your appetite, it’s time to get to the good stuff. The weekend kicks off with a book signing with Patti Warashina, a sculptor with works housed in museums like the National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto and the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Tip Toland, another talented ceramicist, will be signing books on Friday. This is an incredible opportunity to meet some of your favorite local artists in person (although, if you can’t make it Friday, you can always look into signing up for one of Toland’s incredible workshops).
On Saturday, Carrie Mae Weems will give a lecture on her work investigating everything from sexism, politics, family, and class through a wide array of mediums. For those looking for more information on NFTs and how they’re utilized in the art world, Seattle NFT Museum will host a panel discussing the merging of both worlds—physical and digital—and what this changing landscape means for the industry.
