Ten Reasons to Love Beacon Hill
Beacon Hill has transformed over the past 10 years, evidenced by the cranes and construction in the area. The neighborhood offers quiet residential living just blocks away from bustling streets, with views of downtown, SoDo, Elliott Bay, First Hill, or the Rainier Valley—depending on your vantage, with Mount Rainier, the Olympics, and the Cascades vistas dotting the landscape. And while green spaces and parks are relatively easy to find, the focal point of this community is Jefferson Park, 52 acres that include a public golf course, along with lawn bowling, a skate park, and an extensive playground, tennis courts, and plenty of open space—where events are held, or groups can gather for picnics. Many of the shops and boutiques of the neighborhood speak to its roots as one of the most racially diverse neighborhoods in the city, and alongside those, trendy restaurants, breweries, and specialty cafes.
Bar del Corso
This neighborhood restaurant offers up delicious Italian fare in a quaint and cozy setting, with a beautifully lit patio for those warm summer evenings. Menu standouts include any of their wood-fired pizzas, the suppli al telefono, arugula and farro salad, and of course, their wine!
Homer
Seattle Met’s 2019 Restaurant of the Year, Homer serves Mediterranean and Middle Eastern-inspired cuisine utilizing the best ingredients in the Pacific Northwest. They prepare their food over a wood fire and purposely design their dishes to be shared. So, invite your loved ones to share delicious pita breads straight from their oven and a variety of other plant-forward dishes.
Musang
A community-driven restaurant, Musang strives to cultivate an experience for their guests that will help create new and sustainable systems for the next generation. Their Filipinx-inspired menu features standouts like short rib kare kare, garlic rice, and ube flan. They’re open for brunch, lunch, and dinner, so head over whenever a craving hits!
Victrola Coffee Roasters
Though not technically started in Beacon Hill, this location deserves its own callout. The space is small and cute, yet comfortable and quirky, which makes it perfect for this area. It’s located near the library and light rail station, so it’s perfect for a coffee fix on your morning commute.
Jefferson Park
The sixth largest park in Seattle, Jefferson Park is one of the main attractions to this neighborhood, and for good reason! This local park provides residents with stunning vistas of the Duwamish River and the Olympic Mountains. It’s a great place to visit when you feel like taking a break from the hustle and bustle of city life and enjoying some fresh air.
Beacon Food Forest
This 7-acre food forest is situated next to Jefferson Park and serves as a community garden where residents can plant and care for a wide offering of flowers, vegetables, herbs, and fruits. The idea behind this food forest is to give back to the community and ensure everyone living here has access to great, healthy, and local produce.
Petite Soif
Beacon Hill’s natural wine shop, Petite Soif is a great place to grab a glass of wine and share small bites with friends. They offer wine by the glass, wine memberships, and bottles for purchase, and their wine connoisseurs are there to help if you ever need a bottle for a special occasion or as a pairing to a great meal. Not only that, but they have a nice patio to use on sunny days!
Beacon Hill Library
What makes this Seattle library special is its unique and intriguing architecture. Featuring a commanding sloped roof, tall walls of windows, and a one-of-a-kind sculpture outside, it’s a short walk from the link station, so next time you’re in the area, stop in for books or a quiet place to unwind.
Breezy Town Pizza
An homage to midwestern pan pizza, Breezy Town Pizza utilizes a sourdough base for their Chicago- and Detroit-inspired pizzas, giving them a characteristic flavor you won’t find elsewhere. Some of the best ones to try are the pepperoni paint job, spicy meatball, and Bluto pizzas.
El Quetzal
This family-run Mexican eatery feels like a cross between a bar and a restaurant, making it an ideal destination to grab a margarita (or two!). Our favorite dishes are the tacos de pescado, enchilades de mole, and the sangria quetzal.
